The people behind the practice.
People don’t really buy a method. They trust people who have stood where it’s hard, held real responsibility, and helped others move forward together.
Founder & Director · Master Mariner · Mediator, coach & facilitator
From the harbour to the hard conversation.
Howard’s route into this work is unusual — and it’s the reason the work is what it is.
As a Master Mariner and former Harbour Master, he spent his early career responsible for safe passage, competing interests and high-stakes decisions — the kind of situations where getting people to move together matters far more than being right, and where the cost of things not moving is very real.
That grounding shaped a second career as a mediator, coach, facilitator and leader. The through-line never changed: how do you give people reason to trust, reason to hope, and a way to move forward — especially when it’s difficult?
It’s why The Resolution Centre isn’t a set of models on a shelf. It’s a practice, built by someone who has had to carry responsibility when the stakes were high and the people were not yet aligned.
Director · Mediator · Leadership and Organisational Development
Leadership that didn’t begin in a classroom.
Richard brings three things together that TRC needs: leadership formed under real conditions, a deep understanding of how organisations actually work, and a belief in resolution as a capability — not just a way to settle disputes.
His understanding of leadership didn’t start in a seminar. Ten years as a Royal Navy officer gave him the calm, disciplined steadiness that command under real conditions demands.
He then built a substantial senior career inside the Government of Jersey — as Director of Human Resources, Executive Officer to the Jersey Appointments Commission, and later Chief Officer for HR, before leading the cross-government Welcome Jersey programme. It means he understands organisations from the inside: leadership, people, culture, change, governance, and the difficult reality of making systems actually work.
Today that experience turns outward. Richard has led the development of peer mediation in Jersey’s schools — part of more than 2,000 young people now trained across primary and secondary, alongside 200+ adults through the Professional Certificate in Mediation — positioning resolution as a capability people carry into work and life.
Command, senior organisational leadership, people and transformation, mediation, and now forming resolving capability in others — Richard’s path is Leadership is Resolution, lived.
PCC · Leadership Coach · Mediator · Organisational Development
Where leadership, relationships and change meet.
Lesley works with people at the points where leadership, relationships and change meet.
Her background spans more than 15 years in financial services, human resources, learning and organisational development, including work with senior leaders through periods of significant organisational and cultural change.
Today, she is an experienced leadership coach and accredited mediator, working with individuals and teams to understand what is happening beneath difficult conversations, challenge assumptions, and find ways forward that are both human and practical.
Lesley holds an MSc in Human Resource Management and a Diploma in Relationship Psychology, and is an ICF Professional Certified Coach (PCC). Her coaching has included senior leaders, educators and professionals working in complex international environments.
Alongside her work with The Resolution Centre, Lesley contributes actively to wider conversations about leadership, belonging, equality and the changing relationship between work and life.
Across her work runs a consistent idea: people can develop the capacity to understand difference, navigate difficulty and create healthier relationships. For Lesley, coaching and mediation are different expressions of that same work.
Three careers, converging on one question.
We didn’t set out to be a mediation practice that later added leadership courses, or leadership consultants who happen to mediate. Three very different careers arrived at the same place.
Howard brings purpose, responsibility, leadership under pressure and the architecture of resolution.
Richard brings organisational leadership, transformation, people systems and the movement of resolution into organisations, communities and education.
Lesley brings human development, behavioural insight, coaching, relationships and the inner work through which people become more capable of leading and resolving well.
How do we develop people who can turn towards what matters — particularly when people, relationships and circumstances make that difficult?
And all three now meet in mediation.
Talk to the people, not a brochure.
No pitch and no pressure — just a conversation about what’s happening, and whether we’re the right people to help you move forward.
